How a song can personalize your wedding day

Everything on your big day represents you from your dress and flowers to your cake and decorations. You carefully hand-pick all of the details and your music should be no different. Often times, music can make your wedding incredible or forgettable. Nobody wants to hit the dance floor to some outdated, boring music, so having a playlist of your favorite songs, current and old, to have your DJ or band play is a good start. Don’t forget the list of songs that you would rather have them not play – this can be equally important.

To add a bit of spice and personality to your wedding’s playlist, add in a personalized song inspired by you and your soon to be husband or wife. We’ve put together our fair share of wedding songs over the past year, so below we’ve included some uses for a personalized song on your big day along with some of our favorites we’ve created for you to listen to.

If you hear a specific songwriter that you think would be a perfect fit to create a song for your big day, let us know and we can help coordinate.

Pop the big question

One of the most nerve-racking things in the world is getting down on a knee and asking the love of your life to spend the rest of your life together. Usually, everything that you plan to say comes out wrong or a bit off. Why not get a little assistance by playing a song? We can incorporate it in the chorus or make a love song that has the big question in the end verse. It’s a fun way to pop the question and takes a bit of the pressure off you.

Your wedding website

Give your wedding website a unique twist by adding your song to it. Download your song from your Story Homepage and add a music player to your wedding website featuring your song. This gives your guests something fun to listen to while they cruise around your website.

Another idea would be to create a photo slideshow with your song over it and add that to your site. Our songs are powerful alone, but when they are accompanied by photos, they reach a whole new level of personalization.

The night before

There is so much going on the day before your wedding, it’s important to take a step back and prepare for one of the best days of your life. Find some alone time with your fiance and listen to the song together. Laugh at the jokes and remember the adventures that got you here while going through a world wind of emotions and memories.

If you are staying apart the night before, which is pretty common traditionally, surprise your fiance with a personalized song for them to listen to. It will be a special treat before they go to sleep and set the tone for their beautiful dreams about the big day.

Wedding morning note

A lot of couples like to send a heartfelt note on the morning of the wedding to expresses their love, appreciation and dedication to one another. Surprise them with a personalized song along with your note – double the love. The song will bring your note to life with a melody and lyrics that sing all your hearts sentiments.

Walking down the aisle

Create the soundtrack to walk down the aisle to. The song can talk about the experiences and memories that lead you to the very moment before saying “I do.” A song about why you love each other while leading you down the aisle to marry the love of your life, it’s kind of symbolic, right?

Bride & groom first dance

Some people know their first dance song before they are even engaged. For those of us that aren’t as ahead in the planning, it’s often a discussion or two or three along with hours of searching online. If you can’t agree on a song or don’t know where to start – think about getting something crafted specifically for you and your special someone based on your personal experiences.

Mother son dance / Father daughter dance

With today’s musical landscape changing so often, it can be tough to find that perfect song for your first dance with your parents. Surprise them with a song that shows your appreciation for all they have done, your favorite memories together and what they mean to you. The song will likely create some happy tears while making the special dance even more memorable.

Wedding speeches

Is your maid of honor or best man terrible at speeches? We’ve created quite a few songs that were played instead of full speeches and they are always a hit. You’ll look out into the audience and see tears, smiles and pure amazement as everyone tries to figure out how it was done.

Interesting fact: The Songfinch idea was born when one of our co-founders, John, got a personalized song to play in place of his speech at his brother’s wedding. His brother, Rob, is also a co-founder of Songfinch, so they’ve both experienced this first hand and it was powerful enough to fuel the creation of what the company is today.

Wedding guest ‘thank yous’

Your guests just celebrated the incredible love at your wedding. Send the link to the song on your wedding thank you notes and let them listen to your masterpiece. They may smile, laugh and even cry but it is something that helps make your wedding unforgettable.

Wedding recap video

Your wedding videographer got incredible footage so you can re-live your wedding day for the rest fo your life. Don’t put a standard stock song over the video like every other video online when you can have your own song that is about you, your love story or your wedding day.

Honeymoon surprise

You may be headed to a resort to sit on a beach for the next week or to explore another country. Either way, why not break out a personalized song during a date or before a special night on the town. Now the wedding is over, a surprise will be that much more appreciated. Do something unexpected – this is it!

I had a song made for my wedding and it was a hit. I wrapped a bluetooth speaker and gave it to my husband the morning of. He couldn’t control himself but said it was one of his favorite gifts I’ve ever given. We danced to it towards the end of our reception and nobody could believe we had our own song. Truly incredible! :)))
