We’re always looking for new podcasts to work with and when we came across Talk Nerdy, we thought it would be a fun podcast to work with. Cara Santa Maria, the host and creator, runs the podcast like a boss and features a new guest each episode to talk about various interesting topics.

 

When we work with podcasts, we ask that the host gets a song so they can experience Songfinch first-hand, making the reads much more organic and not so “ad-like.” For her song, she wanted to get an anthem for her group of friends called the “Nerd Brigade.” This was definitely a first for us and we were pumped to get started.

 

What is the Nerd Brigade?

 

The Nerd Brigade is an organization that democratizes access to and promotes literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), by using three core strategies: (1) engaging the public with scientific storytelling across various media platforms; (2) encouraging collaborations between leaders in science, science communication, journalism, industry, education, and entertainment; and (3) facilitating events, public and private, that are consistent with these goals.

The Song: “Nerd Brigade Assemble!”

 

She asked if the song could have a “nerdy punk rock vibe.” We reached out to one of our favorite rock artists, Yoo Soo Kim , and he created a gem! Not only we’re we super excited but the whole Nerd Brigade couldn’t stop playing it.
