Though completely different people, Gabriela and her fiancé are like two halves of the same whole. Since high school, it’s as if their lives were intertwined, and now they’re taking their love one step further into marriage. To show how much she loves him, Gabriela gave her fiancé this custom song for their wedding day.
 

 
“We met in high school. He was this quiet guy, and I was this loud girl surrounded by my guy friends. I was in denial that I liked him. When he revealed his feelings, I ran, until he asked me to prom.
 
When we kissed at school in front of everyone, the world stopped and he told me he lost a little piece of his soul. He used to walk me to the train after school every day. I would sit on top of a newspaper box for an LGBTQ publication – we described the color of the box as ‘LGBTQ blue.’ I never anticipated that we would make it this far. We were and continue to be two stupid kids in love.
 
We went to different colleges in Chicago. I would go over to his dorm and we just held each other. Then he transferred to my college and we both majored in psychology. Halfway through college, we moved in together.
 
He proposed at our Alma Mater Lane Tech. He created a scavenger hunt for me that led to my family’s home, our home, the location of our first date, our train stop that he would walk me to, and finally our old high school. He stood in the snow with his guitar and played ‘More Than Words’ by Extreme. Then, he asked me to marry him.
 
He has this big, beautiful, thick, black hair with brown eyes. I have my signature blonde hair and big blue eyes. We like to dance at home alone in the dark, and we love watching movies and shows. He does a lot things that I like to make me happy. He’s my best friend.
 
Our love is very light and pure. We come off as very different because we deal with people differently – he’s an introvert, I’m an extrovert. However, we are the same person. I say that sometimes I don’t know where I end and he begins, because we are so intertwined. We also talk a lot about the concept of ‘folie à deux,’ which is French for ‘shared madness of two.’ It seems like we are often the only two people in the world. It’s always just the two of us. When I picture us, I picture us driving on an adventure, playing songs and singing at the top of our lungs.
 
So, I want to give my fiancé a song for our wedding to make him feel in love.”
